So, be alert for unexpected change in your social circle, particularly around mid-March and be careful to raise your consciousness to avoid drawing in a negative energy. Spring is, as we know, about new life and inspiration and always a beautiful reminder of the seasons of life continually coming around. Thus, you’ll be planting new seeds born of the fruit of your experience earlier in the year and your renewed understanding of believing in yourself and how much you are needed by dear Mother earth to help heal the planet. You can help yourself feel balanced by holding out your right hand and feeling a white dove landing gently. As you listen to it cooing gently in your ear you will tap into your inner peace and share it with who or wherever comes into you mind. The energy around you will feel lighter this year, Sagittarius. In many ways you will feel blessed though this may not be obvious initially. There will be blessings and blessings in disguise. You are being guided to practice gratitude, gratitude for those things that have already come your way and thus paving the way for more. As always, our fortunes in life are lessons for not just ourselves but for everyone else we come into contact with. When you become aware of this, there is no need to try, the Universe takes care of the rest. A niggling health issue will need attention around September so have it seen to, be patient and all will be well. A younger relative may need some reassurance or just a shoulder to lean on towards the end of the year. Just be there for them and allow them to unravel the situation in their own time.

CAPRICORN (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

This is the year when you learn to truly listen with your heart and soul, Capricorn. This way you will begin to understand what people are really saying. Use all your senses to note what they are truly imparting and what is going on inside them. This is the 5th dimensional way of listening and is the way to discover more than you thought possible. It is listening from soul to soul. As the year progresses you will be drawn to colour. You will be working with colour and seeing colours more brightly than ever before. You will crave more colour in your home and surroundings. Colour allows the angels to radiate their light and share their lessons. You are here on earth to learn everything you can while in a physical body and so you must take every opportunity to hone your gifts and help others on their journeys.

AQUARIUS (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

You may find yourself having to co-operate with others and even compromise against your inner feeling, Aquarius, but trust the Universe to guide you and know that it is all part of a plan for the higher good. Structure is important for us all to thrive and sometimes that mean giving way and letting go. Thus, we can each play our best part even if the ego objects. Spend some time during the summer months, making your home more welcoming and harmonious. Those little things that have been irking you because you know they need adjusting and realigning. You can even widen this to your local community. For example, instead of being irritated by litter you could start to pick it up and inspire others to do the same. People, in general need to reclaim respect for our beautiful planet and it begins in small ways and by example.

PISCES (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

During this great transition, Pisces, we are all being called upon to act from a deeper place within than we have ever even known about before. Your guidance at this time is to be free and independent within your given community, thus experiencing a sense of space and independence without losing the safety of the group. If, at any time you feel misunderstood (and you will), remember that you have an inner wisdom which will always remind you of your true essence, which may not always be recognised but is always there. Throughout the autumn months you may be called upon to carry out some fairly menial tasks and you will do so with joy as you realise that it is part of your contribution to caring for Mother earth. Continue to develop your sense of self worth and learn to value your uniqueness and many will be drawn to your energy.

Self compassion… What is it?

in Features

In the difficult days and times in which we are living I feel it is very important for us to about, understand and begin to practice self compassion.  But what exactly is self compassion?

We all know about compassion… compassions for others , compassion for animals… but, for the most part, we stop short of even thinking of having compassion for ourselves. The most likely reason before this being that we grew up in a society in which we were taught to put others first and put our own needs last. Many of us were taught to ‘just roll uo your sleeves and get on with it!’  or ‘who do you think you are?’ ‘pride comes before a fall’ .. and so on. Children in the current times are more encouraged to put themselves first in an increasingly narcissistic society but that too, is devoid of self compassion. Self-centredness and self-compassion are two very different things.

“Self-compassion is simply the process of turning compassion inward.  We are kind and understanding rather than harshly self-critical when we fail, make mistakes or feel inadequate. We give ourselves support and encouragement rather than being cold and judgmental when challenges and difficulty arise in our lives. Research indicates that self-compassion is one of the most powerful sources of coping and resilience we have available to us, radically improving our mental and physical wellbeing. It motivates us to make changes and reach our goals not because we’re inadequate, but because we care and want to be happy”. Kristin Neff

Self compassion is about treating ourselves with the same kindness and acknowledgement with which we treat others. Our expectations of ourselves are always harsher than our expectations of others. When we are dealing with life’s challenges it is essential that we learn to give ourselves the time and the kindness to take stock of just what we are dealing with and recognise that it is in the best interests of everyone that we do so.

It is not easy to change ingrained habits or to silence the little voice which is so diligent in reminding us how flawed we are. But, as Kristin Neff points out so well, it is one of our most powerful sources of coping …. Radically improving our mental and physical well being.”

I find so often that when I choose a subject to research and write about that life gives me the opportunity to walk my talk! So, it is hardly surprising that I am now being given the opportunity to walk my talk of self compassion. And, I can tell you first hand, it is not easy.

My younger brother has had a stroke and I am his next of kin, his big sister and therefore his surrogate mother. It doesn’t matter that he is 60 years old or that he is a youthful, fit, active, healthy 60 year old, he is my little brother and my heart is breaking. He had a brain bleed three months ago and was making excellent progress, had come to stay with me while we worked on him regaining full health. He felt a bit odd one day last week and before we knew it, he had had another, … this time an aneurysm – a massive brain bleed – and given two hours to live. That was nine days ago and he has come through four separate medical procedures and basically defied all odds to stay alive. He opened his eyes two days ago and is focusing, letting us know that he is in there, still with us and not ready to drift over to the other side just yet. I am effectively carrying this myself, though I have a very supportive partner who keeps reminding me to be gentle with myself and to acknowledge the enormity of what I am dealing with. My brother’s life in its entirety, is balanced in my hands to a large extent. I am his source of communication and I am acutely aware of the gift that I have been given and therefore that I have the inner strength and capacity to help this man on his journey wherever it may go. And to do it with grace and dignity. For me to do this I absolutely must practice self-compassion.

Do not wait till something so extreme happen in your life before you consciously begin to allow yourself some self-compassion. I have been teaching these practices for many, many years and yet still I am caught unawares. But this is my opportunity to share with you, my readers, the essential value of taking care of ourselves with love and compassion.

We can only give to others what we have enough of within ourselves and we only ever have one real relationship and that is the one with ourselves. The others are all reflections

Remember this ……   First is God.  Second is Self.  Third is Others.

Depending on Self

in Features

As participants in the current reality and the transition taking place on our planet and indeed being Light warriors charged with the task of looking after and guiding confused souls through this period, we realise that our own paradigms have shifted radically and we must shift our comfort zones accordingly. This means that as our familiar safety structures disappear from underneath and all around us, we have to step up and look deeper within in order to locate the locus of control within, which connects to the divinity which created us.

We find that we have two selves …. The Self (higher Self) and the self (lower self or ego).   Put simplistically this is the Heart and the Head.

Most of us these days are familiar with the Chakras … the seven, spiritual energy centres located in the body. It is valuable to recognise these centres in relation to the 4 Pillars of PIES.  (Physical Intellectual Emotional Spiritual).

  • Root Chakra relates to Physical.
  • Sacral Chakra to Emotional.
  • Solar Plexus to Intellectual
  • Throat, Third Eye and Crown to the Spiritual.

This leaves a gap in the middle, which is the Heart Chakra which is The Soul and the frequency of The Soul is not of the Intellect. The Intellect can make things happen but the Heart is where imagination lies and where ego fears to tread. We must open the altar of The Heart to allow God energy in and only thus can we arrive at pure, Heart based decisions that work for the highest good of all concerned.

More and more, it is essential that we keep our chakras harmonised and centred, vibrating peacefully with the higher frequencies around us. We stay centred by melding with the higher vibrations and diligently cleansing negative presences from the sphere around us. It is impossible to fix problems with the same mind that created them, the ego mindset, as the ego is only interested in sabotage so has no one’s best interests in mind.

One of the most powerful ways to open the altar of the heart and allow God energy in is through the practice of Forgiveness, using the ancient Hawaiian practice of Ho’oponopono. What I have been learning more recently is that there is a deeper spiritual depth to this practice which is essential for the process to work on any valuable level. It is possibly best described as a process of reconciliation and healing through self-forgiveness. The lower self (or ego) asks forgiveness from the higher Self for buying into the illusion of lack, thus taking responsibility and handing over control at the same time.  And that’s powerful! It is about Forgiving on a soul level ……   and, as beings of the ‘We are All One’ energy, it is about taking 100% responsibility for our experiences and forgiving ourselves for our misguided preconceptions. It is truly liberating.

The mantra or prayer goes like this:  I am sorry, Please forgive me, Thankyou, I love you.  What is happening here is that the small ‘i’ (or self/ego) is recognising a false belief which it has allowed to come in and cause hurt and saying Sorry to the higher Self (Divine energy) for not trusting, and then asking for Forgiveness.  Then saying Thankyou.  It is about recognising that we are all one and that as we are all created in Divine perfection then we have full responsibility for everything that happens to us. This is what “I am you and you are me and we are one” actually means and the only way for us to reclaim our divine power and cease to live with pain is to recognise and honour our divinity and stop trying to ‘fix’ our lives through the ego.

The practice is simple ….  but not easy as the power lies within the consistency of applying it.  It must become a deeply ingrained habit in order to replace the negative voices which have ruled us all our lives and which constantly remind us of how flawed we are.

The ego or lower self, resides in the lower chakra centres – the physical, emotional and intellectual.  This could also be described as the 3D aspects of our existence.  Remember that the current transition is about moving from 3D to 5D. From the material, head centred vibration to the heart centred vibration of love.  Where value is placed on people and not on things. Ego identifies from the outside in – placing value on the ‘things’ that it has acquired but have no lasting value.  Divinity identifies from the inside out, teaching us that value lies within and lives forever.

We learn to live from the heart chakra, understanding the power of and the safe space of love and only then can we move into the energies of the three upper chakra centres where divinity and spirituality reside.

And so, the heart acts like a bridge linking what I call The Annexe and The Chantry. The Annexe being an ‘add-on’ or an afterthought, external and impermanent.  The Chantry is a shrine, a place of prayer, a sanctuary of peace and love, internal and forever.

The bridge connecting the material and the spiritual (current transition) therefore becomes the 4D.  This is where so many are at the moment.  We know where we want to go but it feels like too big a risk as the ego prefers to be in charge and much prefers dragging us back into the old painful memory zone. So, we hover on the bridge.  And this is where ho’oponopono comes into its power and erases all those old memories which hold us on the bridge.  Depend on Self and let them go ….

I am sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, I love you.

The new healing modalities

in Features

Is your heart tired? Mine certainly feels tired much of the time these days and I am conscious of setting aside time to do a little heart healing on myself.

Our hearts carry a lot of stuff … the good and the bad … and we must be compassionate with ourselves or else we lose our sense of worth.  And when we lose our sense of self worth then we go directly to our sense of woundedness in order to function in the world around us and that gets us in big trouble.

In this period of great transition, it is essential that we stay strong in our core.  If the core is strong, like the trunk of a tree, then most everything that comes flying at us can be withstood. We may wobble emotionally, have physical ailments or injuries, or feel that we are going slightly insane as the energy of the global stage finds ways to infiltrate our being. A strong core enables us to see these things as distractions, sent to knock us off track and destabilise us.

Over the last five or six decades more and more people have become aware of and involved in esoteric practices of healing. Practices like Reiki, crystal healing, acupuncture, spiritual healings, and various bodywork techniques, to name but a few.  This has been a huge leap forward with many therapies now well recognised as being complementary to allopathic practices.

However, with the current great transition taking place and the vastly heightened energy vibrations, so the healing modalities need to evolve beyond the current ‘hands on’ types of work.

There are four main modalities to consider for the Lightworkers of the world to consciously move forward with. They are modalities of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’. Most lightworkers and healers will, of course already incorporate these modalities into their work but intentionality increases the power of everything and so it is now essential that this work is incorporated consciously and with intention.

1. Affection. The healing power of affection. Warmth, tenderness, the power of touch. The first wave of healers is bringing this to the world, helping others to feel valued and cared for.

2. Compassion: The opposite of judgement…
People need to feel heard without being judged. They will heal more of their psyche when they are heard with compassion. When someone holds space for another to step into.

3. Certainty:  Being clear and certain of what you are doing for others. Reassuring people in stress that “You are going to be fine”. We are all afraid of our own power – the very thing that we are being called to step into. So, we manifest all sorts of distractions in the form of colds, injuries and so on.  All designed to gain attention rather than shine. Distractions give us a false sense of importance rather than acknowledge the real importance – our inner power.  We need to help people to feel safe.

4. Trust:   The Healing Power of Trust is something that is increasingly tricky in this period when it is impossible to know who or what to trust. So, we go within and recognise our own divinity and when we can do this then we can recognise the divinity in others. In order to experience trust, we need to work through some doubt. We need to see it, own it and work on it without allowing past issues to get in the way and block out the light.

These four modalities are essential to work effectively in the areas in which healing is required. For example, trauma is another area which is now recognised as being much more than the commonly held concept of PTSD and therefore applicable only to war trauma. This belief has not allowed for the inclusion of abuses of all kinds and people being generally told to put it behind them and get on with life. Or to go for counselling which generally simply keeps the client stuck in the same place talking through the experience, revisiting it again and again and therefore embedding it more deeply rather than letting go.

These gentler, ‘being’ approaches are more effective in dealing with the fears currently afflicting our communities. Fear could be described as the Achilles Heel of society. the fundamental weakness, the weakness that can kill us, as it did Achilles in Greek mythology. Fear can take many different forms, arguably as many forms as there are people. After all, our fears are created by our life experiences and so it stands to reason that they are informed by those things that have traumatised us.

Some people have not experienced much fear in regard to the happenings of the last two years, although many have been deeply traumatised. Yet some can become paralysed with fear at the thought of opening their arms and heart to love in their intimate relationship. Many of us will resonate with the deep fear of being unlovable, flawed and therefore of being abandoned, whilst being perfectly confident in their professional sphere and in other relationships.

So, if fear is the global Achilles Heel, then the healing modalities of Affection, Compassion, Certainty and Trust are the way through the wounds. They serve to strengthen the power of the healing arts but are much more versatile as we learn to infuse them into our everyday actions and conversations. And, of course they will strengthen the effect of other treatments. They are the bridge to heal our areas of confusion and separation, which then brings us back to our worthiness from where we can make decisions from a place of worth rather than woundedness.  From a place of love rather than fear.

Being graceful in agelessness

in Features

I believe in agelessness and what could possibly be more graceful than that.

What do I mean by this?  Well, as I mention regularly, given that we are spirit living in the body it follows that while the body chalks up the linear years, the spirit goes on forever.  The spirit does not die.  The body dies and the spirit moves on.  So, the spirit is ageless. Forever young.

Linear years are a manufactured concept …….   Apparently, we can expect to live three score years and ten (70 linear years) and be grateful for what we are granted beyond that.  My 97-year-old aunt is testament to the fact that this idea is open to interpretation. She is fully functioning mind and body and still teaching yoga!   She doesn’t miss a trick and has a happy healthy and loving inner child who makes sure that she stays that way!

There are others who heave a sigh of relief and take this message at face value and seize upon it as a grand excuse to give up on life and age anything but gracefully! Too many people become old before their time and wear it as a badge of importance!  Of course, older people deserve respect. But not just for being alive or even half alive. That respect needs to be earned and it starts with self-love and self-respect, and the diligent caretaking of the body which has undertaken the onerous task of being a physical home for the soul. Too many of us realise this too late!  Though it is never too late to start if the heart is centred, willing to forgive and willing to love.

I have undertaken and taught Inner Child work for many years. It has been found to be a hugely loving and healing path for healing the traumas and wounds of our childhoods.  We can learn to re parent ourselves and to understand the difference between living from our worth rather than from our wounds. More recently, I have started to work directly with the soul which may actually be the same process as working with the Inner Child. Certainly, they hang out together, loving and caring for each other and helping the body/mind to understand the true processes involved in navigating this increasingly scary world that we are living in. And to lighten up!

In order for the current global transition to evolve from a depersonalised ego centred energy to a gentler heart centred one it is essential that we learn to follow the wisdom of our souls. This is a dimensional transition, commonly referred to as moving from the 3rd Dimension to the 5th.  Or, from ego to heart. This must happen first on an individual level in order to expand out from the heart and resonate with the hearts of others. Firstly, there is a season of aloneness ….. for preparation and for learning. And this season can take years or even decades of being apart from the crowd, being the odd one out, not fitting in and being aware of things going on around us that others are simply not picking up on. And so very often they find us comical, dippy or downright stupid.  Never before in history has this been so clearly the case. But the tide is now turning and, as more and more people become conscious of the agelessness of their soul, then life becomes lighter and fear diminishes.  Fear of the future, fear of aging and fear of what other people think.

How often do we hear people express that they cannot believe what ‘age’ they are?  Or, that the years have flown by so quickly and yet they still feel the same inside?  I think we have all heard the saying, ‘the spirit is willing but the body is weak’?   Of course, the spirit is willing but if the body hasn’t been loved and looked after it cannot possibly be anything other than weak.

Deepak Chopra articulates the mind body spirit link beautifully. He explains that people think they are bodies that have learned how to think when, in fact, they are spirit that has created the physical machine. The mind (thoughts) produces the molecules (the body) and spirit resides in the spaces in between the thoughts. This is why meditation is such an important practice and has incredible results when it comes to physical and mental youthfulness. Those spaces are where decisions are made and futures are decided. It is not genetic or ‘in the lap of the gods’, it is in our minds and is what we choose to create.

So, eat well and speak to yourself with loving kindness. Tell your body how wonderful and unique it is and give it the confidence and the honour of being the beautiful and perfect temple it was designed to be.

We must take good care of ourselves Physically, Intellectually, Emotionally and Spiritually. If we do not do this then we will age way ahead of our time.  Your spirit cannot decay or die but it can be held back by an uncared-for body temple.

You are ageless. You are spirit and you have been living in your body for a certain length of time but you are not that body. So, defy your linear age. You are a timeless, ageless being – be graceful in your agelessness.

We tend to glibly say that honesty is the best policy but it isn’t always the easiest path forward. But if you stay in touch with your true feelings regarding the situation then the correct path will flow.

CAPRICORN (Dec 22 – Jan 20)

Devote some quality, spiritual time to yourself this month, Capricorn. It is a good time for you to recommit fully to your values, relationships and your Higher Power. If you need to change a few things then that too is important.

AQUARIUS (Jan 21 – Feb 19)

Releasing old resentments is an important part of our personal and spiritual development, Aquarius.  In order to enjoy life to the level you deserve then forgiveness is the key. Not necessarily forgetting but letting go of those feelings that hold you in the past.

PISCES (Feb 20 – Mar 20)

Gratitude is your key word this month, Pisces. The more you notice and appreciate your blessings, the everyday things as well as the bigger stuff, then you’ll find that the door to more of God’s gifts opens wider.

The power and purpose of Forgiveness

in Features

Forgiveness is an intriguing concept and one which I believe to be much misunderstood. It is also one of those ‘concepts’ which gets bandied about in new age circles as an essential part of our ascension process and therefore something we can do in meditation or in a workshop afternoon with some quality ‘ommming’ at the end to complete the emotional release. I find this nice but not very practical and I like practical… particularly when it comes to spiritual matters. But I do believe, wholeheartedly, that forgiveness is indeed essential for our personal growth and spiritual development.

Forgiveness is a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person (or group) who has harmed you, regardless of whether or not they actually deserve your forgiveness.  (Dictionary definition).

So why would we forgive? And how do we forgive?

Studies have found that the act of forgiveness can reap huge rewards for your health, lowering the risk of heart attack; improving cholesterol levels and sleep; reducing pain and blood pressure, along with levels of anxiety, depression and stress.

In the first instance, it is important to be aware that forgiving someone is for your benefit, not theirs. The process of forgiveness and the release of thoughts and feelings that have kept you tied to the past can be done without the other person’s participation. Forgiveness allows you to let go of the regrets or resentments that eat up your valuable energy. There often follows the commonly held belief that the person who committed the offense must earn forgiveness. Not so. That is simply the ego telling us that we are better and more righteous and that is not what forgiveness is about.

We do well to remember that good people sometimes make bad decisions but that does not make them bad people – it just makes it a bad decision. When we carry bad feelings, they take over our spirit, our identity and our future.  Think about the amount of energy and emotion we invest in holding on to past hurts and injustices, thereby ensuring that they play an informed role in our future experiences!  We become the product of resentment, anger, hate and vengeance because we have given them the power to stay alive within us. Thus, we hold back our acceptance and love for ourselves as well as our ability to love and accept others.

There is an old Indian tale of the two wolves that reside within us.  A good wolf and a vicious one. They are always at war with each other. The child asks his granpa .. which wolf wins? And granpa answers, Whichever one you feed the most.

So, yes, we forgive for ourselves but I believe it is more than that. I believe that real forgiveness rises above us and happens on a soul level. That is where the real power of forgiveness lies and therefore the purpose of forgiveness is to ascend to higher levels of spiritual awareness and recognise that we are all one. We are all I AM. Each of us a part of the great cosmos like tiny pinheads of light lighting up each other and bringing our energy together to overcome the darkness that is working so hard to envelop us.

As spiritual beings having a physical experience, we are not our bodies.   The spirit/soul continues long after the body has completed its job.  The body is the temple of the soul …   to be loved, cared for and looked after in order to do its job the best it can. Like my friend who tidies his car and thanks her for taking him safely from here to there and back. Gratitude. Respect. Your spirit deserves the very best place to live so it too can do its best job in this lifetime as the human person that you are at this time.

We came from spirit, from Source and we are perfect. We did not come into the body knowing shame or self-persecution. That is learned behaviour.  Same with resentment and anger.  Those who taught us got off track along the way, separated from their soul and behaved towards us in such a manner that they knew not what they did.  This does not mean that what they did was ok or acceptable but it is their karma to work through not ours to carry.  That only weighs us down. When we can remain connected to our spiritual essence then we can tap into our heart space and that which makes us great and, in this way, we can be sure that the good wolf will win.

How to forgive may be the most difficult part but we can simplify it. We don’t need to overthink it. It can be broken down into three steps.  First of all, refuse to hate. Obviously not quite as easy as it sounds but you can start by repeating those three words.  Over and over and you’ll soon catch yourself in action and then it’s ‘ooops . .  let’s start again’. Next comes, learn to learn.   when our buttons get pressed or some uncomfortable, painful stuff comes up, choose to learn from it.  Again, this can be easier said than done and certainly takes work but is well worth it. And third, can you commit to seeing light in that person?  Remember we are all spiritual beings, albeit at different stages of development, but all with light lurking in there even if it is well hidden.

So, choose love, choose forgiveness and remember that some people come into your life as blessings and some come into your life as lessons.  And lessons are blessings too.
