At an event held at the Rock Hotel on Tuesday 21st June 2022 to mark the 18th anniversary of Parasol International in Gibraltar, it was announced that The Parasol Foundation Trust, of which entrepreneur and businesswoman Ruth Parasol is the principal benefactress, has committed to a donation of £1.5m to the new Gibraltar National Theatre and Cultural Hub at the John Mackintosh Hall complex.
The donation will go towards the creation of a new exhibition art gallery that will carry
the Parasol name and that will form a key part of the project. The Parasol Foundation Trust was established in Gibraltar in 2004 and since then it has awarded over £35mn to a series of ambitious projects and collaborations around the world.
The anniversary dinner was attended by
the Gibraltar National Theatre Foundation’s Patron HE the Governor Sir David Steel and the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Minister for Culture, Prof John Cortes as well as His Worship the Mayor, Mr Christian Santos and many members of the business community.
